The government has rescheduled two examinations of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) scheduled for Sunday and Tuesday due to the 72-hour hartal called by the BNP-led 20-party alliance. English first paper examination supposed to be held on Sunday has been rescheduled for February 13 (Friday) from 9:00am to 12noon, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said at a briefing at Chittagong Circuit House this afternoon. An activist of Jamaat-e-Islami was killed by own bullets in a ‘gunfight’ with police at local bus stand in Nesarabad upazila early Saturday. The deceased was identified as Bachchu,25, an activist of the upazila unit Jamaat and son of Abdur Jabbar of Jagannathkathi village in the upazila. 2 children missing as trawler capsize in N'ganj - The Daily Observer


A trawler with 50 passengers capsized in Shitalakkhya River as it was hit by a goods-laden cargo vessel on Saturday morning.  Narayanganj River police outpost in-charge Md Nazrul Islam said, the trawler sank in the river at Madanganj area in Bandar upazila around 7:30am. Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, on Saturday called an indefinite strike in Dhaka University demanding resignation of the vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique.
